About Miss 20 Font
Miss 20 was directly inspired by the Great Gatsby and Art Deco style of the 1920’s. It was very much the era of swing dancing, clubs, showgirls, and the big city life! Bringing in the connection of the male gaze, I have tried to understand how women in this time were treated and represented.
Miss 20 is from the decorative style category, with the intention that it be utilized for titles and display type.
The use of the thick and the thin lines not only link to the aesthetic of the era, but are also there to represent the male gaze. Thick representing male dominance. Thinness and curves representing the delicate women constantly being portrayed as weak, unable to stand up for herself or have a mind of her own.
