I've been a letterpress printer since 1993, having apprenticed under Paul Holbrook at The King Library Press (Lexington, Kentucky). Paul studied under Carolyn Reading Hammer, second wife to type designer, printer, and artist Victor Hammer. Consequently, I'm drawn to uncials and other typefaces that mimic or derive inspiration from ancient hands.
I don't understand the ideas behind a lot of the typefaces I find here. That's because I'm not a graphic designer, but I do know what I like.
It greatly disappoints me when I discover a very creative typeface that does not include numbers or punctuation marks.
