This was the first SWMCA typeface of 2014 . Fonts making up the Area 51 UFO typeface were also the first space fonts created by SWMCA in close to 20 years. The Alien Greeting is the smooth regular version and the Apocalypse eroded font is well "chaotic".
On the apocalypse version the True Type is a very large file (close to 1 MB if not more). If you get a "not a valid file" message, use the Open Type version. Due to the size of the file it probably won't show up here, the characters are exactly the same as open type version which does show. The .ttf will show if you click "View All" for it.
This was the only free font by SWMCA to include Hebrew characters; for many years, and probably the first "space font" in history to include these. Cyrillic and Greek characters are included, and this may very well be the first space font to include these too. If not, it's one of the few that do.
While this was the first typeface to be named for Area 51; to include "UFO" as part of it's name, it's not alone in using "Area 51" as part of it's name. Our typeface is named Area 51 UFO; while the older one was created by Comicraft in 2000, is named Area 51 Industrial. Ours was created 14 years later. Comicraft was founded by Richard Starkings and John Roshell, and produces primarilty comic book and sci-fi fonts and typefaces.
SWMCA wisely decided to call it's typeface Area 51 UFO; instead of just "Area 51", just in case there might another "Area 51" named font or typeface out there; -and we later learned that there was. The Comicraft Area 51 Industrial font is not a free font to our knowledge. and isn't being offered here. A Google search can point you to distributors of the earlier Comicraft typeface.
This typeface is a candidate to have a variable font added in the near future. We are starting development of variable fonts in 2020.
Usage suggestion:
THE NON-STENCIL Area 51 Industrial FONTS CAN CO-EXIST WITH OUR Area 51 UFO TYPEFACE, WHILE THEIR STENCIL FONT IS COMPATIBLE WITH THE Apocalypse FONT.
